Announcing our new team member: experienced community organizer Suhaib Al-Hanooti!
Greetings! I'm Suhaib Al-Hanooti, the newest member of the National Network for Arab American Communities' (NNAAC) growing team.
As NNAAC's Advocacy and Civic Engagement Specialist, I will be working directly with NNAAC's member organizations to advocate and mobilize on issues that matter to the Arab American community. Advocacy has always been my passion, so I am thrilled for this opportunity and look forward to working with and learning from everyone at NNAAC.
I have a background in Communications with a focus on Public Relations and have been a community organizer for 15 years. At my alma mater, the University of Michigan-Dearborn, I organized various events for students and the Dearborn community, several of which involved partnering with local and federal law enforcement and civil rights organizations to address students' and the community's concerns. Off-campus, I worked with multiple non-profits on voter registration, to address civil rights and humanitarian needs and to fund-raise for beneficial causes.
Most recently, I worked with Apple Inc. in sales and as a mentor for three years, training new and current hires. In my work there, I gained experience in diversity and inclusion, leadership and communication.
My work at NNAAC will focus on engaging and educating our member organizations and the Arab American community about current events, programs, initiatives and various perspectives that have an impact on the lives of Arab Americans. I also plan to lead civic engagement initiatives to promote key issues and mobilize our communities.
To contact me, please email me at SAl-Hanooti@accesscommunity.org. I'm excited to get to work on my upcoming projects with NNAAC!
