NNAAC among 82 groups to demand DOJ address 'Muslim-free zones'

Today the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) was among 82 civil liberties, human rights, immigrant rights, faith and cultural organizations (see list of signatories below) to send a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch asking her to investigate the growing phenomena of so-called “Muslim-free zone” businesses nationwide.

NNAAC demands justice for Freddie Gray

The National Network for Arab American Communities stands in solidarity with the Baltimore community and joins the calls demanding justice for Freddie Gray. We urge the Baltimore Police Department to provide much needed answers to the Gray family and the community at large. Police violence is a national epidemic and it is incumbent on all people of conscious to demand the end of police brutality, demand accountability and transparency of all law enforcement agencies. We must work to rebuild trust between communities and law enforcement to ensure the safety of all Americans.

NNAAC joins immigrant advocates in voicing disapproval of anti-immigration injunction, lawsuits

Dearborn, Mich. – The National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) objects to the act of a federal district court judge in Texas who has temporarily blocked steps to move forward with new immigrant deferred action programs, which is delaying the chance for millions of U.S. immigrants to seek relief from the threat of deportation.

4,000 letters sent: NNAAC helps exceed requirement for Census testing of MENA category

The National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) would like to thank the thousands who voiced their support of a new Census classification for people from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. With their help, NNAAC sent over 4,000 letters, which contributed to exceeding the requirement of 5,000 positive comments to the U.S. Census Bureau in support of the MENA classification. This means the MENA category will now be tested for possible official inclusion in the 2020 U.S. Census, thus giving Arab Americans and other groups their own category.

National Arab American groups join forces to register voters in communities across US

DEARBORN, Mich. - The National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC), a project of ACCESS, along with the Network for Arab American Professionals (NAAP); the Arab American Institute (AAI), and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), have joined forces to launch a National Arab American Voter Registration Day this Friday, September 26, on the heels of the National Voter Registration Day which took place earlier this week.
