Why did you join the Leadership Fellowship?

The factors that led me to join the fellowship are twofold: I joined the fellowship with a desire to get more experience in the non-profit sector and as a means to becoming more involved in the Arab American community in my hometown.

What is your favorite quality about your host-site organization?

My favorite aspect of the Alif Institute is its inclusivity of all. While the organization focuses on educating the public about Arab American Culture, they seek to be an organization in which people of all intersections feel welcome and included.

What is your favorite part overall about the fellowship?

My favorite part of the fellowship is the individuals I have had the pleasure of meeting, including Alif’s board members, my fellows, and the community we seek to serve.

How does this program fit into your future plans?

This program particularly fits into my future plans in that it will instill confidence in me regarding my Arab American heritage and the ability to be a better leader through experience.

What is a personal goal that you would like to achieve?

I’d like to become more of a “yes” person and accept others’ help as easily as I offer it.

What is a professional goal that you would like to achieve?

Practicing self-mastery has always been a goal of mine, both personal and professional. Its immensely important to have self-awareness of my strengths, skills, and weaknesses in addition to knowing effective ways to apply and improve them.

Why do you think programs like this are important?

Programs like these are important because they allow individuals to pursue leadership skills while forming a sense of community in a way that they otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so.

How do you plan to use the skills and experiences you gain through this fellowship, in the future?

I have always had a passion for working with youth. With the skills and knowledge I anticipate gaining through this fellowship, I plan to continue to assist the community, provide paths of success for younger generations through advocacy, and promote civic participation in my hometown.

Describe yourself in three words.
