Summit to explore incredible journey of Arab American community [#ArabAmericanSummit]

Arab American leaders, advocates and allies from across the country will gather at The Arab American Summit—an exceptional, dynamic symposium—on Nov. 7 and 8 in Dearborn, Mich.

AASummit15.jpgThe Summit, convened by the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC), promises to be a powerful two-day convention of organizational leaders, community members and youth.

This year’s theme From Marginalized to Organized symbolizes the incredible journey of the Arab American community, honoring the hard work that has been done and encouraging the further advancement of social justice and community change. Forum and session topics include important issues facing the Arab American community and the country as a whole, best practices for community impact and creative solutions to address pressing problems.

This year’s Summit is markedly different from past conferences, as there is a new focus on advocacy and activism in addition to nonprofit capacity building. Expect outstanding speakers and experts presenting on various topics for an informative and exciting Summit experience. The Summit includes a Community Forum series that will engage all Summit participants with thought-provoking sessions on justice, community change and issues related to refugees.

Distinguished guests make The Arab American Summit a weekend that you do not want to miss! NNAAC will distribute three very special awards: the Emerging Leader, the Spirit of Service, and the Breakthrough. The awardees will be present during the Summit and the Change-Makers Dinner on Nov. 7.

SEE: And the Emerging Leader Award goes to ... Sara El-Amine!

Youth will also have a place and role at the Summit, meaning both high school and college students should plan on attending. There will be a special Youth Track, for high school students, to inspire the next generation of leaders. NNAAC aims to bring together a diverse mix of voices to engage in dialogue and learning. Whether youth or professionals, organizational leaders or community members, advocates or allies, we hope that Summit participants will leave feeling empowered and informed.
